Youssef Al-Nuwaif, head of the General Administration of Customs, said instructions have been issued to facilitate the entry of all food, health, and special shipments in coordination with state institutions, ensuring necessary clearances around the clock. Al-Nuwaif explained that an emergency meeting of all senior customs officers was held at the start of the current crisis, and the control room was designated as the operations headquarters for the General Administration of Customs. This setup allows immediate decision-making and ensures smooth procedures at all customs ports, following directives from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, reports Al-Rai daily. Referring to the Minister of Commerce’s decision to ban the export of all food commodities, Al-Nuwaif said customs issued instructions to implement the ban and established truck routes using an electronic tracking and monitoring system. This measure aims to maintain the steady flow of goods entering the country and expedite customs procedures. He reassured the public that all food and health supplies remain available and emphasized that customs officers are performing their duties with high professionalism and full responsibility.
