Defense Minister inspects Kuwait Airport after drone attack targeted fuel tanks

Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah conducted an inspection visit this morning to Kuwait International Airport, following a reported drone attack targeting one of the airport’s vital facilities, including aircraft fuel tanks, which resulted in a fire. The visit was part of field monitoring efforts to assess the impact of the incident and follow up on firefighting operations to bring the blaze under control. During the visit, the minister received a joint briefing from the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation and the Kuwait Fire Force. The briefing confirmed that the damage was strictly material, with no human casualties reported, while outlining the security and safety measures taken to contain the fire, reports Al-Rai daily. Officials also reviewed the level of coordination between relevant authorities during the emergency response, including rapid deployment and containment procedures undertaken at the site. The minister praised the efforts of firefighters and emergency teams, commending the swift response by the Fire Force, supported by teams from the Kuwaiti Army, the National Guard, and personnel from the Kuwait Oil Company. He expressed appreciation for the coordinated national response, emphasizing that the dedication of field teams reflects strong commitment to protecting the country’s infrastructure and maintaining public safety.
