The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that a water desalination plant sustained damage following an Iranian drone attack, marking a serious escalation in regional tensions. The ministry stated on its official X account that “Iranian aggression is randomly bombing civilian targets and causing material damage to a water desalination plant following a drone attack.” In addition to damage to the facility, three people were injured earlier in the day due to falling missile fragments. The ministry also reported that a university building in the Muharraq area was damaged by missile debris, reports Al-Rai daily. Authorities highlighted that these attacks are part of a broader pattern of Iranian strikes targeting civilian and strategic infrastructure, emphasizing the risks posed to residents and critical facilities. Water desalination plants supply the majority of drinking water across Gulf countries, making them essential to daily life and highlighting the significance of such attacks on regional infrastructure. The Ministry of Interior called attention to the dangers of continued aggression and reiterated the importance of protecting civilian life and essential services amid escalating regional hostilities.
