Iran’s Khondab facility rendered inoperable after strikes, says IAEA

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Iran’s heavy-water production plant at Khondab is no longer operational after sustaining significant damage in strikes carried out on March 27. In a statement posted on X, the agency noted that the facility did not contain any declared nuclear material, dw.com reports. Based on independent analysis of satellite imagery and knowledge of the installation, the IAEA has confirmed the heavy water production plant at Khondab, has sustained severe damaged. The Israeli military had earlier described the Khondab site as a key facility for plutonium production linked to potential nuclear weapons development when announcing the strike.
