Kuwait Ministry of Defense Spokesman Colonel Saud Al-Atwan said Sunday that Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles in the southern part of the country during the past 24 hours. Al-Atwan made the remarks during the third media briefing of the Government Communication Center on the “current developments.” At the beginning of the briefing, Al-Atwan mourned on behalf of the Defense Ministry two servicemen from the Kuwait Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Emad Al-Sharrah and Major Fahad Abdulaziz Al-Mujammad, who were killed while performing their national duty. He affirmed that the country’s military authorities, in coordination with various state institutions, continue to carry out their responsibilities with dedication to defend national security, preserve sovereignty and ensure the safety of citizens and residents. Al-Atwan said air defense systems and fighter aircraft of the Kuwaiti Air Force detected a wave of hostile drones that violated the country’s airspace. Air defenses managed to destroy some of the drones, resulting in debris falling in several locations. Two drones targeted fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport in the Subhan area, while another drone struck the building of the Public Institution for Social Security in Kuwait City. No human casualties were reported. He urged citizens and residents not to approach or touch debris or unfamiliar objects and to report any sightings to the relevant authorities through the emergency hotline (112). Al-Atwan stressed that officers and personnel of the Kuwaiti armed forces remain at the highest level of readiness and preparedness, carrying out their duties with high efficiency and morale to protect the nation. He concluded by praying for the continued safety and security of Kuwait under the leadership of His Highness the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. – KUNA
