The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait strongly condemned what it described as a heinous Iranian attack targeting Kuwaiti territory on Saturday morning, calling it a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, its airspace, international law, and the Charter of the United Nations. In an official statement, the ministry affirmed Kuwait’s full and inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter in response to the aggression. It stressed that Kuwait is entitled to take all necessary measures, consistent with international law, to protect its territory, citizens, and residents, and to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability in a manner proportionate to the nature and scale of the attack, reports Al-Qabas daily. The ministry added that Kuwait’s defense systems successfully repelled the aggression in accordance with approved operational procedures and applicable rules of engagement. It warned that the continuation of such military escalation in the region would pose a serious threat to regional security and stability. The developments came just hours after the conclusion of negotiations between the United States and Iran in Geneva, when U.S. President Donald Trump announced the launch of what he described as “large-scale combat operations” in Iran. Subsequently, the United States, in coordination with Israel, carried out joint strikes on multiple sites inside Iran, including the capital, Tehran, following significant American military deployments across the region. In response, Iran launched waves of missiles toward Israeli targets and also struck major U.S. military bases in the region, marking a sharp escalation in regional tensions.
