Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, headed the delegation of the State of Kuwait to the extraordinary session of the League of Arab States Council at the ministerial level, held via video conference to discuss the ongoing Iranian attacks on several Arab countries. During his address, Al-Jaber reiterated Kuwait’s strong condemnation of the aggression launched by Iran against the country since February 28, 2026. He revealed that 234 missiles and 422 drones had been launched toward Kuwait during the attacks. The foreign minister stated that the strikes resulted in casualties among citizens and residents, including the death of a child. The attacks also led to the martyrdom of two members of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and two personnel from the Land Border Security Directorate of the Ministry of Interior while they were carrying out their duties, reports Al-Jarida daily. He added that a number of civilians and military personnel were injured and that the strikes caused significant material damage after targeting vital civilian facilities and infrastructure. Among the locations affected were Kuwait International Airport, its fuel depots, and the main building of the Public Institution for Social Security. Al-Jaber stressed that these attacks represent a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the Charter of the United Nations. He also condemned what he described as systematic aggression against countries in the region, whether directly or through militias, factions, and armed groups loyal to Iran. The minister emphasized that targeting countries that are not parties to the conflict cannot be justified under any circumstances and represents a dangerous escalation threatening regional stability as well as international peace and security. He called for a firm and unified response to safeguard regional security, stressing that Arab national security is indivisible. Al-Jaber also reaffirmed Kuwait’s legitimate right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, including the right to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, airspace, citizens and residents. He concluded by expressing appreciation for the positions of brotherly and friendly countries that have shown solidarity with Kuwait and supported the measures it has taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability.
