Kuwait’s National Cybersecurity Center and the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) have denied reports circulating on social media claiming that the “My Identity” application had been subjected to a cyberattack. In a press statement issued on Saturday evening, the National Cybersecurity Center said it had conducted a comprehensive review of the relevant systems while maintaining continuous, round-the-clock monitoring to detect any signs of potential cyber threats. The center stressed that no evidence of a cyberattack had been found. It added that any vulnerabilities or cybersecurity incidents — if they occur — would be announced transparently and in accordance with approved procedures. The center also urged the public to verify information through official sources and refrain from spreading rumors that may cause unnecessary concern among users, reports Al-Rai. Meanwhile, Acting Director General of PACI, Issa Al-Mahmoud, also denied reports suggesting that the authority’s systems or the “My Identity” platform had been exposed to cyberattacks or security breaches. Speaking to Al-Akhbar channel on Kuwait Television, Al-Mahmoud confirmed that PACI’s systems are operating normally and securely, noting that specialized teams are continuously monitoring the network and tracking any potential threats. He explained that the authority is committed to implementing the highest international cybersecurity standards and has invested in advanced protection and encryption programs to safeguard its systems. Al-Mahmoud added that PACI maintains close cooperation with several national cybersecurity bodies, including the Cyber Crimes Unit, the National Cybersecurity Center, the Central Agency for Information Technology, and other relevant entities to ensure the continued security and integrity of its digital platforms.
