Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, announced the dissolution of the boards of directors of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Al-Qurain Cooperative Societies. Dr Huwailah said temporary board members have been appointed to manage the societies’ affairs. The decision follows monitoring and follow-up work that revealed serious financial and administrative violations requiring legal action. In a statement, Dr. Al-Huwailah emphasized that the Ministry, in its supervisory and regulatory role over cooperative societies, will not hesitate to take necessary measures against any violations that jeopardize shareholders’ funds or contravene the laws and regulations governing these societies, reports Al-Rai daily. She added that the violations will be referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings against those involved. Dr. Al-Huwailah underlined the Ministry’s commitment to promoting integrity, transparency, and good governance within cooperative societies. She stressed that decisive action is necessary to protect shareholders’ funds, safeguard public money, and maintain confidence in cooperative work. The temporary boards have been appointed to ensure the continued operation of the associations and the proper management of their affairs until the legal and regulatory processes for forming new boards are completed. The Minister called on all board members and employees of cooperative societies to strictly comply with laws and regulations, adopt good governance practices, protect shareholders’ money, and operate in a manner that serves the best interests of their members while enhancing public trust in cooperative institutions.
