The Ministry of Interior announced it has foiled a terrorist plot and arrested six members of the network following extensive surveillance and security operations. In an official statement, authorities said the network included five Kuwaitis and a non-Kuwaiti whose citizenship had been revoked. Security agencies have also identified 14 additional suspects currently abroad, including Kuwaitis, non-Kuwaitis with revoked citizenship, as well as individuals of Iranian and Lebanese nationalities. According to the Ministry, investigations confirmed the group’s affiliation with the banned Lebanese organization Hezbollah. The cell members had allegedly been planning assassination operations targeting senior state officials and recruiting individuals to carry out these attacks. The suspects have reportedly confessed to joining the organization and coordinating with it, expressing readiness to execute assigned missions aimed at harming national interests. Authorities said the individuals had received advanced military training abroad, including the use of weapons and explosives, surveillance techniques, and assassination methods. The Ministry described the activities as a “serious act of treason” and a direct threat to Kuwait’s national security and stability. All arrested suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action. Security agencies continue investigations to track down remaining suspects and anyone linked to the network. The Ministry reaffirmed that safeguarding Kuwait’s security, sovereignty, and stability remains a top priority, warning that strict legal measures will be taken against anyone involved in terrorist activities or collaboration with such groups.
