The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced Saturday that the relevant security authorities arrested an individual who appeared in a video circulating false and misleading information and figures on social media. In the video, the individual claimed that more than 1,000 people had been arrested, the Minister said in a press statement. This was ‘an untrue claim”, which aimed at misleading public opinion and stirring confusion, it stressed. The person called for pardoning those who sympathize with the Islamic Republic of Iran, it said, underlining that all legal procedures have been taken against this person and that he has been referred to the public prosecution. The ministry emphasized the need to verify accuracy and obtain information from official sources, and refrain from spreading rumours or false news, it pointed out. The ministry vowed that it would take legal action against anyone who circulates false information or seeks to harm the security of society, the statement concluded. – Kuna
