Kuwait Municipality ensures uninterrupted digital services under emergency plan

The Director of Public Relations and Media and official spokesperson for Kuwait Municipality, Mohammed Al-Sundan, affirmed that the municipality continues to deliver its electronic services smoothly and without disruption. These services include building permits, commercial shop licenses, and advertising approvals, all of which can be accessed without visiting municipal branches or headquarters. He noted that reports are received through the government’s Sahel application or via the municipality hotline (139), and are handled promptly in coordination with relevant authorities, reports Al-Rai daily. In a statement to Kuwait TV, Al-Sundan said operations are proceeding in line with the approved emergency plan, under the direct supervision of Director General Engineer Manal Al-Asfour and following the directives of Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Abdul Latif Al-Mashari. He emphasized the municipality’s readiness to support other government entities whenever required. He added that strong coordination is ongoing between the municipality and various state institutions to ensure uninterrupted services during the current situation, supported by a comprehensive emergency framework. Al-Sundan explained that the sanitation sector is a key focus of the plan, with increased deployment of equipment and machinery across residential areas to maintain consistent service levels. Efforts also include safeguarding workers, accelerating waste collection and transport to designated landfills, and implementing flexible schedules for manual street cleaning to ensure continuity. He further noted that precautionary measures have been introduced, including the cancellation of camping activities. He praised the swift response from citizens and residents, highlighting that a large proportion of camps were removed within the first ten days, despite the official camping season still being in effect. Additionally, the municipality has suspended the issuance of permits for event tents and temporary wedding halls, in line with a directive from the Ministry of Interior banning public gatherings, including plays, parties, and weddings, until further notice.
