Kuwait summons Iranian envoy again after attack on airport fuel tanks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by His Excellency Ambassador Aziz Rahim Al-Deihani, Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, summoned His Excellency Ambassador Mohammad Toutounji, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State of Kuwait, for the third time since the start of the treacherous Iranian aggression on February 28, 2026, where he was handed a protest note regarding the continuation of the attacks launched by Iran against the State of Kuwait. This comes in the wake of the brazen attack that targeted the fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport today, Wednesday, March 25, 2026, which constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, as the airport is considered a civilian facility. His Excellency the Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and strong denunciation of this aggression, emphasizing that it represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, the integrity of its territories, and its airspace, in clear contravention of international law and the United Nations Charter, in addition to its conflict with the principles of good neighborliness, and the dangerous escalation it represents that undermines regional and international peace and security. His Excellency affirmed the necessity of an immediate cessation of these attacks, with Iran bearing full responsibility for the consequences of this aggression, and the State of Kuwait’s absolute, complete, and inherent right to insist on defending itself pursuant to Article (51) of the United Nations Charter.
