Minister of Commerce and Industry Osama Bodi has issued a ministerial decree to stabilize food commodity prices for one month effective March 1, in a move aimed at protecting consumers and maintaining market stability. According to Article One of the decision, the prices at which all food commodities were sold prior to February 28, 2026, will be considered the maximum allowable selling prices, reports Al-Qabas daily. Retailers are prohibited from exceeding these prices unless they obtain special approval from the Minister of Commerce and Industry. Article Two stipulates that any violations of the decree will be subject to penalties outlined in Decree Law No. 10 of 1979. The decision will remain in force for one month from the date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette, with all concerned authorities required to ensure its implementation.
