The Public Prosecution has ordered a media blackout on two high-profile cases involving espionage and threats to state security, as investigations uncover what authorities describe as serious plots affecting national sovereignty. Attorney General Saad Al-Safran directed that all investigations remain confidential, banning the publication or circulation of any related information under Article 75 (2) of the Criminal Procedures and Trials Law, as amended by Law No. 3 of 2012. The authorities said updates will be released once investigations are completed in accordance with legal requirements, reports al-rai daily. In a statement, the Public Prosecution confirmed it has launched probes into two separate cases following intelligence indicating the involvement of several individuals in coordinating with terrorist organizations as part of plans that threaten the country’s security and sovereignty. Investigators, working in coordination with relevant security agencies, have obtained judicial warrants to arrest suspects and search premises. The operations have already led to the seizure of equipment and devices linked to the alleged activities. Officials stressed that the cases are being treated with the utmost seriousness, warning that those found guilty will face the harshest penalties under Kuwaiti law. Legal proceedings are ongoing, with preparations underway to refer the accused to the judiciary upon completion of investigations. On March 22, 2026, Attorney General Saad Al-Safran and Public Prosecutor Meshaal Al-Ghannam personally reviewed the progress of the investigations. They received a detailed briefing from Chief Prosecutor Talal Al-Abdulrazzaq, alongside a team of 11 prosecutors, outlining developments, operational plans, and actions taken so far.
