Tehran rejects, says US plan falls short, denies recent indirect talks

2026-03-25 - 15:43

Tehran has received a 15-point proposal from the United States, describing it as “highly maximalist and unreasonable.” A senior diplomatic source told Al Jazeera that some media reports have misrepresented the true content of the proposal, saying it does not accurately reflect what was actually presented. “It does not look acceptable even on paper,” the source said, adding that the plan is being portrayed in a misleading way and lacks genuine substance. According to the source, Iran maintains a clear and consistent position regarding its demands and red lines, in contrast to what was described as shifting positions by the opposing side. The source also confirmed that no indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States have taken place since February 28, although communication has continued through multiple mediators.
