UAE strengthens Africa ties at AUS in Addis Ababa

His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, participated in the African Union Summit held on February 14, 2026, in Addis Ababa, capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, alongside African heads of state, government leaders, and senior officials. The summit focused on key continental priorities, including peace and security, economic integration, and sustainable development across Africa. During bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the gathering, Sheikh Shakhbout conveyed the greetings of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with their wishes for continued progress and prosperity for African Union member states, reports WAM daily. The UAE’s participation reflects its leadership’s commitment to strengthening relations with African nations and expanding partnerships founded on trust, mutual respect, and shared development goals. The country reiterated its support for initiatives aimed at enhancing peace, stability, and sustainable growth across the continent.
