Kuwait is expected to remain under unstable weather conditions as rainfall continues into Thursday, according to the Meteorological Department, which forecast further showers and possible intensification of weather activity in the coming hours. In response, emergency teams from the Ministry of Public Works have been deployed across affected areas to manage water accumulation caused by heavy rain. Officials confirmed that field crews are working continuously to ensure road networks remain operational and to address reported flooding points. Ministry spokesperson Engineer Ahmed Al-Saleh said the country is currently experiencing moderate rainfall, with the possibility of heavier showers later in the day. He stressed that emergency teams are stationed around the clock in key locations and are carrying out regular inspections to prevent rainwater build-up on roads under the ministry’s responsibility, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Saleh urged road users to exercise caution during periods of heavy rain and called on the public to dispose of construction debris and tree trimmings in designated areas, warning that improper disposal could block drainage systems and hinder water flow. He also cautioned against circulating rumors and advised the public to rely on official sources for updates. He added that during adverse weather conditions, coordination is being carried out under the supervision of Civil Defense authorities, with motorists urged to follow instructions issued by the Ministry of Interior. Citizens were encouraged to report water accumulation through the ministry’s hotline, mobile application, WhatsApp service, or official social media channels. Meanwhile, Director of Operations at the Ministry of Public Works Engineer Fares Al-Deqbasi said the ministry is closely monitoring the weather situation in coordination with relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard, Civil Defense, and the Meteorological Department. He noted that rainfall began early in the morning, with some areas recording between 10 and 12 millimeters, adding that emergency teams were fully deployed with technical support, equipment, and machinery to respond swiftly to complaints and clear affected locations. The Meteorology Department also indicated that scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue into Friday, at times becoming heavy and potentially accompanied by hail in certain areas. Strong winds may accompany the system, leading to elevated sea waves. A gradual improvement in weather conditions is expected to begin Friday morning as cloud cover and rainfall activity begin to ease.
