The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Saturday the arrival of U.S. Marine forces, along with transport aircraft and attack fighters, as part of the Amphibious Ready Group accompanying the USS Tripoli, to the command’s area of responsibility in the region in support of U.S. military operations against Iran. In a statement posted on its official page on X, the CENTCOM said that the contingent, consisting of 3,500 sailors and Marines, arrived aboard the USS Tripoli in the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility. The amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli possesses advanced assault capabilities and sophisticated tactical assets, and carries the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, consisting of 3,500 sailors and Marines, in addition to transport aircraft and attack fighters, it added. Meanwhile, the CENTCOM denied claims by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that it had targeted “U.S. hideouts” in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In a post on X, the CENTCOM affirmed that “no U.S. personnel have been attacked in Dubai. The Iranian regime is manufacturing lies on social media to hide the reality that their military capabilities are undeniably overwhelmed and degraded.” On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump’s Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff indicated that his country proposed a 15-point deal for Iran to end the war. On Thursday, Trump announced the extension of suspending striking Iran energy facilities for 10 days after he had delayed his threats to strike them this week. – Kuna
